January 2020 Blog Post

Greetings friends,

This week we had a very successful wine dinner with Patton Valley Farms. All of our guests enjoyed sustainably and organically crafted pinot wines made locally in Oregon paired with excellent dishes by our chefs Dan and Josiah (read more about them on our blog). We and our guests had a lovely time and we are very excited for our next wine dinner in March. If you were unable to get into this one because we sold out so quickly, please keep an eye out for more information on our next one. By subscribing to our newsletter and following us on social media, you will be the first to know the date of next wine dinner.

Moving right along, we will be holding a Valentine’s Day dinner for all you love birds out there. This is a great opportunity to show your valentine, or a loved one, how much they mean to you by gifting them an evening they won’t forget full of delicious food. Wine pairing will also be available. Call to reserve your seats today.

February 22 will be our annual Prohibition Party partnered with First Service Group. Our 1920s-themed night of fun benefits Stampede for the Cure, a breast cancer organization that helps with early detection for women in rural places of Idaho. We personally look forward to this event every year, and we can’t wait to welcome back the roaring 20’s in Gatsby style with you all. Tickets can be purchased on our website.

Thank you to our guests both in our restaurant and at our events, it feels so good to bring friends and families together to make memories out here, and we are so excited to see our Flats community grow!

Warmly,

The Flats 16

December 2019 Blog Post

Hello neighbor!

Thank for reading our new blog about life at the Flats 16. We will do weekly blog posts that will give you insight into our unique event center and restaurant as well as to keep you up to date on our delicious food and fun events.

First, lets introduce our team:

Daniel Hihath:

Dan is our executive chef and operations manager. His grandma inspired his love to cook as she was a retired chef, and he fondly remembers sitting on the counter watching her make her masterpieces. This led him to start as a cook (not even a dishwasher, he adds, proudly) the day he turned fifteen. Since then he has grown his expertise on all things flavor over the course of the 21 years he has been in the industry and is driven by the passion he inherited from his grandmother to create dishes that are not only scrumptious, but also help make memories that can be cherished for a lifetime.

He is always trying out new ideas for food in the kitchen which drives our menu towards constant innovation. Dan is also a dedicated father to his son Jax and enjoys kayaking, rafting, and hiking with him. Dan loves the culture we are creating out here at The Flats with its peaceful countryside scenery, good food, good drinks, and good times being had by all.

Josiah Roberts:

Josiah Roberts is our talented sous-chef who got his start under Dan as a dishwasher in high school. He developed his skills through years of friendly competition with his coworkers and is a master of flavor. He believes that food should be wholesome, locally grown and should nourish your body as well as being delicious. Jo is creative, goal driven, patient, and a pleasure to work with. On his free time, he loves to cook for his two daughters Harper and Juniper as well as being a puppy dad for the first time in his life to Kingly, the adorable lab puppy. Josiah enjoys being at The Flats because it’s a quiet country getaway while still being a convenient distance from town.

Isaac Hooft:

Isaac is our bar manager. Though years of experience in bartending and a distinct taste and passion for creating custom cocktails inspires him, it’s the interactions with the customers and the opportunity to meet new people that drives Isaac and keeps him in the industry. He is friendly, easy to talk to, and dedicated. Isaac’s a native Idahoan as enjoys doing your classic Idaho activities of hiking, fishing, hunting, etc. on his free time.

Coming up this Holiday season we have Selfies with Santa on December 8th and we are booking our event center for holiday parties. We will be enjoying time with our families on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day and will not be open those days.

See you soon!
